Lila Mae Goodenough Colling

Inkom………Lila Mae Goodenough Colling, 86, longtime area resident and wife of the late Robert E. Colling, went home to be with her Savior on February 1, 2011. Lila was born April 17, 1924 in McCammon, the daughter of William and Annna Mae Hunter Goodenough. She was raised and educated in McCammon, Inkom and Pocatello. As a young women, Lila worked for the rail road and then joined the U.S. Navy during WWII. She was honorably discharged in order to take care of her father, who was terminally ill. Lila married Robert E. “Bob” Colling in 1947 and together they owned and operated a farm and ranch near Inkom for several years. While on the farm, Lila cooked many homecooked meals for the hired hands, drove truck loads of grain to the mills, and watched over the herds of cattle. Bob passed away September 25, 1995. Lila was someone who loved life and was very active. She loved to dance, rollerskate with her grandchildren, horsebackriding, painting, sewing, swimming and gardening. Bob and Llila were blessed with 5 children; Kenneth (Arlene) Colling of McCammon; Rob (Kay) Colling of Pocatello; Peggy Ann (Rex) Baker of Lava Hot Springs; Vicki Lynn Green of Athol, Idaho; Connie Johnson of Pocatello. 16 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren; also surviving are 2 sisters; Ethel Hartung and Elaine Hull. She was prceded in death by her parents, husband, 5 brothers, 4 sisters and 1 grandson. Friends may visit with the Colling family on Saturday from 10:30-12 noon at Horsley’s Marsh Valley Funeral Home 570 N. Meadowview Dr. in Arimo. At 12 noon there will be a short service. The concluding gravside service will be at 1:00 pm at the Inkom Cemetery, with military rites.
