Levere Juchau

LOGAN Utah – Levere Juchau passed away peacefully due to natural causes, on Wednesday, October 7, 1998, one week before his 97th birthday, at his home in Logan, Utah.

He was born October 14, 1901 in Cambridge, Idaho to James Joseph and Elizabeth Ann Newbold Juchau. He grew up in Virginia, Idaho, and attended schools in Downey.

He married Elda Rawlings on April 17, 1924 in the Salt Lake City temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They celebrated their 74th wedding anniversary last spring. They overcame many challenges while building a farm and rearing six children.

His motto throughout his life was “work hard, give it your very best, be completely honest in everything you do, and put our trust in the Lord.” A more honest man never lived.

He was devotedly active in the LDS Church, holding many leadership positions. In addition to the work on the farm, he worked for Pacific Fruit Express in Pocatello, Idaho. This entailed long, 14- to 16-hour days, which he did without complaint for many years.

He sold the farm and retired from his other work in 1966, and he and his family moved Logan, Utah. They were called to serve as officiators in the Logan temple shortly after their arrival in Logan – a calling which he loved with all his heart.

He had an exceptionally keen mind, and he memorized every word, without exception, of every aspect of the temple ordinances. He was willing to substitute for any other temple worker, and there were many occasions when he served four and five sessions a week. He was loved and respected by all with whom he served.

Survivors include his wife, Elda; his children, Clyde and Carol Juchau of Logan, Utah, Ruth and Dan Lott of Providence, Utah, Joyce Juchau of Salt Lake City, Mont and Betty Juchau of Bothell, Washington, Karen Juchau of Riverside, California, another son, Dan Juchau, passed away June 7, 1959. He is also survived by one brother, Leslie and Freda Juchau of Eden, Idaho; by 13 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.

We all loved him and will truly miss his kind and gentle character.

Funeral services will be held at the Allen-Hall Mortuary, located at 34 East Center Street, Logan, Utah, Saturday, October 10, 1998, at 2 p.m. Friends may call at the mortuary an hour prior to the services. Interment will be in the Downey, Idaho Cemetery.
