Lela Thorpe Doutre

TREMONTON – Lela Thorpe Doutre, 80, returned home to her Father in heaven on November 22, 2002. Lela was born June 26, 1922 in Malad, ID. She was the tenth child born to Janet Thomas and Ephraim Thorpe. She married her sweetheart, Edward Alfred Doutre on September 1, 1941. They were later sealed in the Logan LDS Temple on January 20, 1946. They lived on their family farm in Blue Creek until 1951. They later moved into their current home in Tremonton.

Lela was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in the Relief Society, Primary and the Cub Scouts. She was a member of “The Fun Club” where they did many service projects. She loved to quilt and she made a lot of beautiful quilts for family and friends. She loved to cook and she kept a beautiful home. She liked poetry and watching all kinds of sports, especially the Utah Jazz. Her family was her greatest joy. Mom was very sweet and everyone loved her.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Edward, her children, Mike (Karen) of Plain City; Fred (Kathy) of North Ogden; Robert (Diana) of Tremonton; Bill (Kay) of Roy; and Janet Lee Peavier (Mark) of Tremonton. She is also survived by her 20 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren with two more on the way. Also surviving her is sister, Donna (Marvin) Hansen; her brothers, Thomas (Lila) Thorpe and Neil (Emma) Thorpe; two sisters in law, Lyle Thorpe and Reva Thorpe and a brother in law, John Udy.

She is preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, Ruth, Mary, Nadine and five brothers, Clem, Lorin, Bill, Cenius and Ephraim; daughter in law, Shirley Ann Doutre; grandson Clifford Reed Doutre and grandson, Nicholas Lee Doutre.

The family would like to express their gratitude for the care that was given to Mom in the Bear River Valley Hospital and especially to the Bear River Valley Care Center. They showed much kindness and love while caring for our mother. She was a wonderful mother and she will be greatly missed.

Funeral services will be held November 26 at the Tremonton Stake Center. Interment will be at the Tremonton City Cemetery.
