Lawrence Budge, 78, passed away Tuesday morning, July 6, 2010 in Montana. Funeral Services will take place in Montana on Saturday, July 10, 2010. A Graveside service will take place in Malad at the St. John Cemetery on Monday, July 12, 2010 at 12:00 noon. Friends may visit with the family at the Horsley Funeral Home from 11:00a.m. – 12:00 noon.

MALAD – Lawrence Budge Jr., 78 former Malad resident and husband of Cheryl Jensen Budge, passed away in Montana on July 6, 2010. Graveside services will be held on Monday July 12, 2010 at noon in the St. John Cemetery. Friends may visit with the Budge family on Monday prior to services form 10:30-11:30 a.m. at the Horsley Funeral Home 132 W. 300 N. in Malad. Budge_Lawrence_Rushton Jr. 31 December 1931
Lawrence Rushton Budge Jr. 78, passed away Tuesday, July 6, 2010 in Harlowton, Montana. Born December 31, 1931 in Malad, Idaho to Lawrence and Blanche Budge, the 4th of nine children. He married Cherrel Jensen, March 21, 1955 in the Logan LDS Temple. Lawrence graduated from Malad High School and attended Utah State University. He served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, in the West Central States Mission and later served a second mission with his beautiful wife, Cherrel, in the New York, New York Mission. Lawrence was also a member of the United States Navy serving from 1955 to 1957 in the Hawaiian Islands.
Beekeeping, a family business, was expanded to Montana in 1961 as Larry and Cherrel made Montana home and raised 5 children. Lawrence was president of the Montana Beekeeping Federation for two terms and represented Montana at the national level in Washington, D.C.
He was active in the community serving on the Volunteer Fire Department, Kiwania Club, County Planning Board and as an EMT. Several years he built beautiful floats for the 4th of July parades.
Some of his greatest loves were family, nature, and sports. He was an avid hunter and fisherman loving the opportunities that Montana provided for him. He was creative and could build or fix almost anything. Many in the community will remember the wonderful props he made for the elementary music programs that Cherrel, his wife presented.
Lawrence served as the Branch President of the Harlowton Branch for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints for 20 years, was a Stake Missionary and served on the Stake Board. At the time of his death, he and his wife were serving as temple ordinance workers in the Billings Temple.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Cherrel, daughters, Pam (pulou) Ama, West Jordon, UT., Linda (Keven) Merrill, Hermiston, OR., Holly (Bart) Bailey, Colstrip, MT., Lisa (Kerry) Beus, Wasilla, AK and son Laawrence Jensen (Linda) Budge, Plymouth, MI.; brothers Grant T. budge, Grants Pass, OR., Lowell (Deanna) Budge, Smithfield, UT.; Ron (Rozie) Budge, Troutdale, OR., sisters Iva Lou (Gale) Moon, Idaho Falls, ID., Valoy (Reed) Smith, Malad, ID., Barbara (Glade) Howell, North Ogden, UT., 12 grandchildren, Carson, Trudy Brant, Chari, Brockton, Shea, Cody, Kelsey, Spencer, Kinzie, Erik and Jensen and 9 great grandchildren.
