Kola Jean Nickell Hanson

Malad… Kola Nickell Hanson, age 70, long-time Oneida County resident, passed away on September 29, 2018.

Kola was born on November 23, 1947, in St. Anthony, Idaho, the daughter of Gene and Lavona Nickell. She was raised in Blackfoot, Idaho, graduating from Blackfoot High School in 1966. She attended Idaho State University.

In 1969 she married John Lym and they had a son, Shawn Christian Lym. Kola worked as a UPS driver in the Oneida County area for over 20 years. In 1984 she exchanged marriage vows with Ralph Hanson.

Kola is survived by Ralph; her sisters: Dawn, Debra, Joslyn and her brother, Greg; children: Shawn, Tess and Tyler; and grandchildren: Keiffer, Avery, Jonah and Lucy.

Per her request, there will be no formal service.

For those whose lives she deeply touched, she brought her gifts along: empathy, generosity, curiosity and the capacity to synthesize the mysteries of life. She could be fine-tuned, a bit rough around the edges, and subject to outrageous displays of humor.
