Kenneth Christian Roberts

Kenneth Christian Roberts, 69, a long-time resident of McCammon, passed away on Sunday, September 6, 2020, following a long illness. Ken was born August 19, 1951, in Salina Utah, a son of Kenneth Dixon and Stanna Silkensen Roberts. He was raised in Salina, Utah; Pinedale, Wyoming; and Pocatello, Idaho. He graduated from Highland High School, class of 1969, where he was a member of the football and wrestling teams. He attended Boise State College on a football scholarship playing linebacker.

Ken enlisted in the Army in 1972; following boot camp, he was stationed in Germany. Upon being honorably discharged from the Army, he returned to Pocatello and completed the Welder-Fitter program at the College of Technology, Idaho State University.

His profession as a welder and pipefitter took him all over the country working from New York to California; North Dakota to Texas. In 1992, he returned to Pocatello and settled in McCammon. He worked for Union Pacific and owned Ken’s Glass Shop in Pocatello.

Ken was a craftsman who took pride in his work whether he was welding, building a cabinet, installing a window, canning salsa or tooling a leather belt. He enjoyed hunting duck, geese, elk and deer and riding his favorite horse near Scout Mountain. Ken was an avid student of history, a great dancer, and a good story teller. He had an unshakable trust in the Lord. Ken lived life on his own terms – he worked hard and played hard.

He leaves behind a daughter, Angela Roberts of Pocatello, three grandchildren and a great grandchild; a sister Karen Roberts Whiteley of Dillon, Colorado and two nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents.
