MALAD — Kenneth Charles Knudsen, 79, of Malad, passed away on Sunday, February 25, 2001, in the Veterans Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah.
He was born September 23, 1921, in Malad, a son of Jack and Flossie Conley Knudsen. He was raised and educated in Portage, Utah, and attended Bear River High School. From 1942-1945, he completed a tour of duty in Europe during World War II.
He married Myra Morgan on August 26, 1946, in Malad. Their first home was in Portage, and in 1952, they moved to Salt Lake City, Utah, where he worked for the Union Pacific Railroad for 30 years.
Following his retirement in 1978, they moved to Malad, where he had since resided. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, billiards, athletics, music and building things with his hands.
He is survived by his loving wife, of Malad; two sons, Terry (Janet) Knudsen of Malad, Johnny (Penny) Knudsen of Salt Lake City; three daughters, Sherry (Bart) Jacobson of Weston, Annette (Ray) Brown of Malad and Laura (Kelly) Fuhriman, also of Malad; three sisters, Neadra (Dave) Neilson of Bountiful, Utah, Joann (J.R.) Gibbs of Syracuse, Utah, and Dora (Paul) Brown of Susanville, California; 21 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Jack Knudsen, and two sons, Steve and Kenny Knudsen.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 28, 2001, at noon in the Malad LDS Sixth Ward Chapel, 200 West 400 North. Friends may call at the Horsley Funeral Home, 132 W. 300 N., Malad, on Wednesday from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Malad City Cemetery, with military rites by the American Legion, Ernest W. Jones Post No. 65.
