Kenneth “Bill” Silkey Eckman

ST. ANTHONY – Kenneth “Bill” Silkey Eckman, 76, lifelong St. Anthony resident, died February 20, 1991 at his home of an apparent heart attack.

He was born December 30, 1914 at St. Anthony, to Fredrick B. and Myrle Silkey Eckman. He grew up in the Chester area where he attended school. He was a 1932 graduate of St. Anthony High School, where he was active in sports.

On February 3, 1941, he married Jessie Welker at Malad. Their marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls LS Temple on June 11, 1958. They lived in St. Anthony throughout their marriage with the exception of three years in Riggins. He was a self-employed trucker and logger. His wife died April 18, 1983.

He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as high priest group leader, stake missionary and as an officiator in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple.

Survivors include his children, Kenneth “Butch” Eckman of Palm Desert, CA; Gary L. Eckman, Brett L. Eckman and Shirlene Remington, all of St. Anthony; four brothers and a sister, Jack Eckman, Glen Eckman, and Marion Nedrow, all of St. Anthony, Melvin Eckman of Sugar City and Fred Eckman of Salt Lake City; 13 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two daughters, two sons, two brothers and three grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Saturday at the St. Anthony LDS 4th Ward with Bishop Jerry Browning officiating. Burial will be in the Parker Cemetery.
