Kenna Hughes Smith

Malad – Kenna Hughes Smith, 71, of Malad, Idaho returned to the loving arms of her Father in Heaven after a valiant battle with cancer, Friday Sept 18th 2009.

She was a member of the LDS church and served in all organizations of the church including Relief Society President and stake callings. She had a strong testimony of temple work, her Savior and eternal families. She especially enjoyed her time working with the youth. Kenna actively participated in community organizations and activities. She had a love for traveling, playing the piano, four-wheeling and spending time with her family and friends.

Kenna had several secretarial and administrative employment opportunities. Education was important to her and she enjoyed any opportunity to further her knowledge. She received a certificate of completion from Steven Heneger Business College. She attended Weber College and received her Certified Professional Secretary certification and an Associate Degree in Business. After the children had all left home she returned to college at Utah State University and had only 3 courses left to complete her Bachelor degree in Business.

After Sheldon and Kenna retired they had the opportunity to serve as missionaries at Martin’s Cove, Wyoming from 2003 to 2004 and later served as temple workers in the Logan LDS temple. Sheldon and Kenna bought a winter home in St. George in 2007 and enjoyed many activities in their community at King’s Row. She was appointed to the Board of Directors at King’s Row to serve 2009-2010 and was looking forward to that assignment at the time of her death.

Spending time with friends and family was her greatest joy and she took great pride in the accomplishments of her children and grandchildren.
