Kathryn Willie Jones, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend passed away peacefully, surrounded by family January 2nd, 2019 of natural causes due to age. She was 96 years old. Kathryn was born Oct 19, 1922, in the family home in Malad, Idaho, the first born of Leslie A. and Eunice H. Willie. She was the oldest of 7 children. Her family moved to Malad so she could attend high school and there met her sweetheart Steven L. Jones. They were married September 2nd, 1939 in Malad Idaho and were later sealed in the Logan Temple on June 22, 1948.

While a young mother, Kathryn took great care of her beloved, bedridden mother in law, “Mrs. Jones” for 16 years. She enjoyed waiting tables at the Chat’n’Chew and The Dude Ranch cafes for extra income. She and Steve were loving parents to Yvonne, Steven, Kathy, Dan and Paul. In 1957 they moved their family to Soda Springs Idaho, where she went to nursing school to become an LPN and graduated 2nd in her class. She loved taking care of people and her nursing associates were lifelong friends. After retiring from the hospital, she worked with Steve and their sons at the family business, City Transfer and Storage. Kathryn was talented in all kinds of handiwork and gifted many beautiful items to family and friends and especially grandchildren. She discovered she had a flair for painting in her 90’s.

After Steve died unexpectedly in 1988, Kathryn moved to Brigham City, Utah to be close to family. She loved her grandchildren and would do anything for them. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and enjoyed working in the Relief Society and Primary. Kathryn was full of sugar and spice and we all adored her. She will be remembered for her care and concern for others, her love for gardening and her spunky attitude. She lived a good full life and was a joy to be around.

Kathryn is survived by her loving children, Yvonne (Sheldon) Jensen, Malad, ID; Steven (Melanie) Jones, Soda Springs, ID; Kathy (Kent) Hansen, Ogden, UT; Dan (Deanna) Jones, Soda Springs, ID; and Paul (Karen) Jones, Brigham City, UT; 19 grandchildren, 48 great grandchildren with 3 on the way and 4 great great grand children; sister Roberta W. Price, Brigham City, UT and brother L. Kay Willie, Pocatello, ID. She is preceded in death by her husband Steven L. Jones, 1 grandson and 2 great granddaughters; sisters Ruth W. Peterson and Betty W. Talbot and brothers Bill L. Willie and David H. Willie. We would like to thank the staff at Maple Springs and Beehive Homes for the loving care they gave our mother. Services will be held Tuesday January 8th at 12 noon, with a viewing held from 10:30-11:45 a.m. at Horsley Funeral Home in Malad, ID with internment at the Malad Cemetery.
