Kathryn Hone Baird

OGDEN – Kathryn Hone Baird, 79, died peacefully June 7, 2003 at her home of causes incident to age.

She was born October 25, 1923 in Tremonton, a daughter of George Theodore “Ted” and Lenna Daniels Hone.

Kathryn married Carl James Baird on January 13, 1943 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

She had lived in Tremonton, Ogden, Logan, Rock Springs, WY, Markleeville, CA, Garrison, UT, Island Park, St. Anthony and Victor and Driggs, ID and Alexandra, VA. Kathryn attended Weber State College.

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served in the Young Women’s organization, as a counselor in the Relief Society, and doing temple work. Kathryn also served as a Cub Scout den mother. She retired from the Internal Revenue Service where she worked as a tax examiner.

Kathryn was a member of the Altruist Club, Daughters of Utah Pioneers, and the LaDianida Sorority. She loved to read and work in her flower garden. She also enjoyed bird watching, hiking, traveling and her cabin in Island Park.

Surviving are her husband, Carl of Ogden; her sons Carl James, Jr. (Sandy) Baird, West Jordan; Ted George (Jolene) Baird, Willard; Robert Hone (Lillian) Baird, West Valley City; and David Paul (Rhonda) Baird, Ogden; ten grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.

Kathryn is also survived by her sisters Opal (Dick) Danley, South Jordan and Georgia (Ron) Erickson, South Ogden.

She was preceded in death by her son, Daniel Jeppson Baird, her parents and her sister, Margene Hone.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at the Forest Green Ward Chapel with Bishop Jeffrey Booth officiating.

Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park.
