Kathleen Elizabeth Fullmer Tubbs

Kathleen Elizabeth Fullmer Tubbs, 68, passed away at home January 13, 2015 due to complications of Parkinson’s disease. Kathleen was born October 30, 1946 to Elise Malin Fullmer and Arnold Glen Fullmer in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was the first of three girls born to the Fullmer’s and ushered in the baby boom era that is still prevalent today. Kathleen was raised in Salt Lake City and was a role model and great friend to her two sisters. Upon graduating from Highland High School with academic honors she attended Utah State University majoring in social work and received her Bachelor of Science degree graduating with honors in the top of her class in 1969. She was also a graduate of the LDS Institute and always had a part time job, which enabled her to finish college debt free. While at Utah State she met Dale Tubbs as the result of a blind date. Following the night of the date Kathie (as she was known to all) phoned her mother and told her she had met the man she was going to marry. After a fifteen-month courtship Kathie and Dale were married for time and eternity on December 19, 1968 in the Salt Lake City Temple. Following graduation Kathie and Dale lived in the Malad valley for the next forty-six years with an occasional move else where for employment purposes. During this time Kathie worked at the Malad Post Office, Magic Gas, Malad School District and gave birth to and raised six sons. In 1987 she attended Idaho State University and over the next two years became certified to teach special education and earned a Master’s degree in Special Education and Psychological Services. She was then employed by the Malad School District for the next twenty-three years. Kathie loved all of the jobs she had and the people she worked with. She had an extra deep love for the children who had special needs that came to her classroom. They, in turn, loved her and shared her zest for life. Kathie was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in teaching positions and presidencies of the Primary, Young Women, and Relief Society in the ward and stake. She served in several Stake outreach programs that enriched her life and those she served. She loved her last calling as an ordinance worker in the Brigham City Temple. Kathie always took the time to reach out to those who needed support in any way. In addition to church service she was actively involved in civic affairs. For many years she was a participant in the Iron Door Playhouse, Cub Scout Leader and Oneida School Heritage Committee. Kathie’s priority was always to her family, they never felt neglected but were always overwhelmed by her love and devotion to others. She was the organizer of every family outing and camping trip. She attended every ball game, dance program, rodeo, graduation or whatever the children and grand children were involved in. No distance was too great to travel or time to spare to be involved. Kathie loved to travel and see the wonders of the world. She managed to see most of the world that interested her from floating the Salmon River to visiting Europe and everything in between. Kathie is survived by her husband, Dale, six sons, Walt (Brenda), Helena, Montana; Matt (Deneice), Malad, Idaho; Blake (Tina), Parma, Idaho; Austin (Maysi), Malad, Idaho; Kyle (Jessica), Whitefish, Montana; Shane (Wendy), West Jordan, Utah; eighteen grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Valerie Dixon (Steve), Bountiful, Utah; Karen (Gae) Kasteler, Salt Lake City, Utah. She was preceded in death by her parents Arnold Glen Fullmer and Elise Malin Fullmer. Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 19, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Malad LDS Stake Center, 1250 North 400 West. Friends may visit with the family at the Malad LDS Stake Center on Sunday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Monday from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the service. Interment will follow the service at the Malad City Cemetery.
