Katherine Noble Walker, age 92, made a peaceful transition on December 24, 2010. Born in Malad, Idaho to Donald Alexander Noble and Margaret “Maggie” Jones Noble on July 21, 1918, she was the youngest daughter of seven siblings. She is the last survivor of her immediate family.
A member of the LDS church, Katherine was a 1936 graduate of Malad High School, Malad, Idaho, and completed her registered nurse training at the Thomas Dee Memorial Hospital, Ogden, Utah, in 1940.
She married Jack L. Walker on December 18, 1944, and they spent most of their lives in Salt Lake City where she worked in hospitals and doctor’s offices. Jack w as transferred with Standard Oil to Shawnee Mission, Kansas, where they spent ten years prior to retirement. They were able to repurchase the home they had left and return to the neighborhood they loved.
Katherine was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed gardening and keeping in touch with family, friends, and neighbors through visits, calls and letters. Her wry sense of humor helped her and others to see the lighter side of situations. She was able to complete her life as she wished, living in her home independently, meeting every challenge as it came.
She is survived by her two daughters; Carolyn Walker Goff (Hawaii) and Jean Walker-Wiley (David Wiley of Reston, VA). She has six grandchildren: Bryan Chandler Goff (New Mexico) Amy Goff Waldron (Pete Waldron of Missouri); Lisa Dawn Goff (Hawaii); Randy Eryn Goff (Hawaii); Kaitlyn Laurel Wiley and Evan Walker Wiley both of Virginia, and three great grandchildren; Jake, Luke and Beau Waldron, all of Missouri.
A gathering for family and friends was held at Horsley Funeral Home, in Malad, Idaho, on Tuesday, December 28, at 2:00 p.m. A brief graveside service was held in St. John Cemetery.
