LaVoy Albretsen

Julius LaVoy Albretsen, 76, of Malad, Passed away on July 2, 2005, at the LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah, of heart failure.

He was born May 17, 1929, in Malad, a son of Julius Fritz and Jenny Oveda Jensen Albretsen. He served in the U.S. Army for two years and was stationed in Germany. He met Elaine Haley in Salt Lake City, and they were married June 18, 1955.

For several years they lived in Salt Lake and Malad, where Lavoy was a printer for the Idaho Enterprise. In 1976 he purchase the Home Hotel in Lava Hot Springs, a business he and Elaine operated for 20 years. Since 1996 they had resided in Malad.

He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. LaVoy enjoyed traveling, spending time with friends and family and was a talented handyman.

He is survived by his wife of Malad; sons: Shaun (Roxanne) of Malad; and Carl of Idaho Falls; daughters: Sherrie (J.D.) Thomas and Mylene (Fred) Jones, both of Malad; eight grandchildren; two sisters: Coy Shillinger of Sedro Wolley, Washington; and Jean (Jack) Seversen of Salt Lake City, Utah.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held today, Thursday, July 7, 2005, at noon in the Horsley Funeral Home, 132 W. 300 N., Malad. Burial will follow in the Malad City Cemetery.
