Joyce (Weaver) Batt

POCATELLO – Joyce Batt, 81, passed away peacefully December 2, 2011 at Portneuf Medical Center.

Joyce was born March 1, 1930 in Ogden, Utah, daughter of Sydney John Weaver and Mary Vivian Hawes Weaver. She attended schools in the Ogden area. At the age of 16, her parents
Died and she moved to Holbrook, Idaho to live with her aunt and uncle. In 1948 she married her high school sweetheart Warren “Dean” Thomas. Together they had four children, Vivian, Dan, Debera and Troy. They moved to Pocatello where her husband Dean was the assistant varisty football coach at Idaho State University. Dean preceded her in death in 1964.

She remarried Robert Batt in 1968. He also preceded her in death. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Joyce was an avid sports fan and she loved all sports. She and her sister Betty would go to spring training camps to watch their favorite major league baseball teams practice. She was also a passionate San Francisco 49ers fan.

She is survived by her children, Vivian (Mike) Dunlap, Pocatello, ID; Dan (Katherine) Thomas, Brunswick, GA; Debera (Lane) Fullmer, Nampa, ID; Troy (Mary Ann) Thomas, Sacramento, CA; sister Betty jean Slaughter, Grass Valley, CA; 12 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by both husbands and two granddaughters, Colette Adean Fullmer and Jennifer Fullmer.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. December 4, 2011 at Colonia Funeral Home, Pocatello, ID. The interment will be held December 6, 2011 at Mountain View Cemetery.
