Joy Thomas

Joy Thomas, 73, of Soda Springs, passed away Monday, August 13, 2001, at home. She was born December 23, 1927, at Soda Springs, the daughter of Samuel Elmer and Alice Beus Wilson. She married Thomas (Tommy) M. Thomas, August 10, 1946 at Paris, Idaho.
Joy was raised and educated in Soda Springs, graduating from Soda Springs High School. She also attended Ricks College for 1 1/2 years. She had lived in Malad for 10 years spending the last 45 years in Soda Springs. She had owned and operated a dress shop and had been a bookkeeper for a cafe, retiring some years ago. Joy was a member of the Soda Springs LDS Fourth Ward. She had served as Relief Society President and as a Visiting Teacher.
She was active in the community, serving as president of the Ladies Golf Club, president of the American Legion Auxiliary, and she belonged to several bridge clubs. Joy was a kind and giving person and will be missed by her family and friends. Her hobbies in’ eluded playing bridge, golfing, knitting and crocheting.
She is survived by her husband, Thomas (Tommy) M. Thomas, Soda Springs, and two sons: Bruce and Colleen Thomas, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; and Eddie Thomas, Boise, Idaho. Also surviving are four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; her mother, Alice Wil-son, Soda Springs; and a sister, Lola Dean Parker, Phoenix, Arizona. She was preceded in death by her father and a sister, Grace Lipker.
Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, August 16, at 12 Noon in the Hooper LDS Chapel. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery. Services are under the direction of the Sims Funeral Home.
