She married her longtime high school sweetheart Joe May following World War II, Together they had one son Kelly, yet they raised numerous children throughout their life in their home.

Josephine was always very active in the LDS church serving many callings; including primary secretary, primary president & librarian. The calling she enjoyed the most was serving for many many years in the Spanish extraction program.

Josephine loved horse and crocheting. She won numerous awards at the fair. Grandma continued to be active though her whole life even at a elderly age. She engaged in numerous activities including hiking to the ‘M’ and petitioning to get the railroad tracks fixed. Her partner in crime was life long friend Leora Brown.
