Joseph D. Allen 74, died Saturday night, 6 July 1957, in a Malad hospital of a heart ailment. Born April 27, 1883 in Portage, son of Joseph and Mary Jane Jones Allen. He was reared and educated in Portage. He lived all his life in Portage. He was an elder in the Portage LDS ward and was a ward teacher. Married May 22, 1906 to Elizabeth Naylor Allen in Providence, Cache County. She died July 4, 1957.
Survivors sons and daughters: Ellis L., Portage; John W., Riverside; Mrs. Ray (Edna) Tippets; and Ralph L., Ogden; Mrs. Eugene (Faye) Bingham; K. Leon, Roy; Golden I., Centerville; Mrs. Newell (Hazel) Udy; and Joseph C., Salt Lake City; 46 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and three sisters.
Joint services Monday 1 p.m. in Portage Ward Chapel Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Friends call Sunday 6 to 9 p.m. at Rogers Mortuary Tremonton and Monday 10 a.m. until services in Relief Society room of the Portage Church. Burial in Portage Cemetery.
