Arbon pioneer, Joseph Arbon, age 96, died

An Arbon Valley pioneer, Joseph Arbon, age 96, died Sept. 23, 1972 at his home in Pocatello after an extended illness. Mr. Arbon was the first man to plow land in the valley named after him.

He was born Sept. 25, 1875, at Snowville to George and Sarah Nicholas Arbon.

He married Elizabeth Davis Nov. 23, 1898, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She died in January 1957. In February, 1958, he married Arvilla Hughes McKay.

Mr. Arbon served as bishop of the Arbon LDS Ward for 26 years, was active in the LDS Church and a high priest at the time of his death.

Surviving are his widow; two sons, Joseph G., Pocatello; Dr. Harold D., Salina, Calif; a daughter, Mrs. Delta Harmon, Provo; foster daughter, Oral Daring, Pocatello; sister, Mrs. Sarah Eveline, Torrance, Calif.; three stepchildren; nine grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday in Pocatello and burial was in Mountainview Cemetery.
