MALAD – Jon Clesmer Ward, 57, of Malad, passed away February 1, 1991, of cancer at his home.
He was born July 2, 1933, in Malad to John Clesmer and Eliza Thomas Ward. He grew up on the family ranch near Snowville, Utah and graduated from Malad High School in 1951.
He married Carolyn Williams, June 29, 1951 in Malad, Idaho. He was baptized and confirmed a member of the L.D.S. Church in 1954, and their marriage was solemnized in the Logan L.D.S. Temple June 27, 1958.
Since his baptism into the Church, he was an active member and served in many stake and ward church positions, including Ward Clerk for 15 years under four bishops and a counselor in two bishoprics.
He was a rancher and operated the family farm since the death of his father in 1956. He was a member of the Oneida County Hospital Board since 1987.
He loved hunting and fishing, and the Christmas season was a favorite time for him when his children and grandchildren could spend time together.
Surviving are his wife, Carolyn Ward, Malad; his son, Jon C. Ward, Idaho Falls; his daughter, Mr. Keith (Jill) Blaisdell, Malad; his daughter, Mrs. K. Brent (Ann) Keller, North Ogden; his mother, Eliza Ward McDowell, Ogden; his sister, Janice W. Cooper, Yuma, Arizona; five granddaughters and six grandsons.
Funeral services will be held Friday, February 15, at 12:00 Noon at the 2nd/5th L.D.S. Ward Chapel, 20 South 100 West, Malad, with Counselor Eldon Nielsen officiating. Friends may call at Benson-Horsley Funeral Home, 132 West 300 North, Thursday evening from 6-8:00 p.m. and prior to services Friday morning. Interment, Malad City Cemetery.
