John Wilkins, (1923)


John Wilkins, age 75, died August 12, 1998 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
He was born March 27, 1923 in Riverside, Utah, son of Asahel Kenneth and Irean Jamima Cottam Wilkins. He married Alice Bowman May 27, 1943, and their marriage was later solemnized in Salt Lake Temple, they were later divorced. He married Anafae Schaefer, September 27, 1992, at Lake Havasu City, Arizona. John was an active member of the LDS Church, and a Veteran of WWII, where he served in the US Air Corps. He was a farmer, carpenter and mechanic, and retired as a welder and yard manager from Young Electric Sign Company after 22 1/2 years of service.
He is survived by his wife, Anafae; children, Jacqueline W. Weimer, Murray, Utah; Judy Ann (Wesley Jay) Ford, Manassas Park, Virginia; Larraine (Edwin A.) Wilde, Sugarhouse, Utah; Christine W. (Mark L.) Yowell, West Jordan, Utah; Vickie Lee (Dean Ray) Ricks, West Valley City, Utah; stepchild, Penny K. Cerny, Mascoutah, Illinois; 17 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; brothers, Lloyd Kenneth Wilkins, West Valley City, Utah; DeLoy Wilkins, California; an aunt Mae Morris VanLeeuwen; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Jessie Irene Cottle, and brothers, Junior Asahel and Billy ā€œCā€ Wilkins.
Funeral services were held Monday, at McDougal Funeral Home in Salt Lake City, Utah. Interment was in the Malad City Cemetery.
