John Oldham Abbott

MALAD – John Oldham Abbott, 80, of Malad, died Friday, June 3, 1994 in Malad. He was born January 26, 1914, in Paradise, Utah, a son of Jacob Davis and Grace Eleanor Oldham Abbott. He grew up and was educated in Redgedale, Idaho and Brigham City, Utah. He married Katie Archibald in Malad, and the marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple. He had been a dry farmer, driven a milk truck, worked for Crowther’s Mill, and for several years was the Malad LDS Stake custodian. He was an active member of LDS Church where he had served in Ward and Stake Choirs, had been a scout leader for several years, and was a devoted home teacher.

He is survived by his wife, Katie Abbott of Malad; four daughters: Nancy Grace Lott, Mrs. Farren (Patsy) Johnson, both of Ogden, Utah; Deloris Beeton of Malad; Mrs. Alan (Loretta) Hall of Shelley; 24 grandchildren and 41 great grandchildren; 2 brothers: Joy Earl Abbott of Tremonton, Utah, and Arden Abbott, of Ogden; one sister, Jennie Stanger of Tremonton, Utah. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, John Jacob, one daughter, Linda Andrea, one brother and one sister. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 7, 1994 at noon in the Malad LDS Stake Chapel. Friends may call at the Benson-Horsley Funeral Home, 132 W. 300 N. Malad on Monday from 7-9 p.m. and on Tuesday at the funeral home from 10:30-11:45 a.m. Burial will be in the Malad City Cemetery.
