John Max Pilgrim

John Max Pilgrim, 75, of Malad, dies Tuesday, March 30, 1993, in the Holy Cross Hospital in Salt Lake City, (Utah).

He was born May 8, 1917, in Smithfield, Utah, son of John H. and Violet Hadfield Pilgrim. He grew up and was educated in Malad, was a graduate of Malad High School, and later attended the University of Idaho. He married Theda Ward July 31, 1940, in the Logan Utah LDS Temple.

He worked for Oneida Farm Equipment for several years. He had owned the Pilgrim Farm Service and had operated a farm in St. John. He worked for Standard Oil Company as a distributor for 18 years. After retirement, he had operated a sewing business, including tarps, car covers and so on.

He was a member of the LDS Church, and held the office of high priest, and had served in numerous positions. He was a member of Malad Lions Club, and had perfect attendance for 32 years. He had held all offices in the District Lions Club, and had served as chairman of the Pacific Northwest Lions for three years.

He is survived by his wife, Theda, of Malad; one son and spouse, Richard and Carole, Bountiful, Utah; three daughters and spouses, Pauline and Charles Chittock, Pocatello Colleen and Frank Parker, Cary, N.C.; and Dixie and Bill Albright, Bountiful, Utah; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; one brother and spouse, Lawrence and Bjorg Pilgrim, Farmington, Utah; one sister and husband, Helen and Paul Maag, Salt Lake City,( Utah). He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and two sisters.

Funeral services were held Friday at noon in the Malad LDS Second and Fifth Ward Chapel, Bishop Craig Sperry officiating. Burial was in the Malad City Cemetery.
