John M. (Jack) Murray

BOISE, Idaho – John M. (Jack) Murray, age 73. Died June 13, 1998, in Boise Idaho. A Memorial Service was conducted on Tuesday, June 16, 1998, at 1:00 in the afternoon at the Alden Waggoner Funeral Chapel with the Reverend Jack Dawson officiating.

The son of Laura Holbrook Murray and Fred Murray, he spent his youth in Malad City, Idaho. He enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps in 1942. He spent eight months as a German POW until freedom was granted by Patton’s 3rd Army on April 29, 1945.

On January 1946, he married Jean Nibert, also of Malad, in Salt Lake City. He obtained his pharmacy degree from Idaho State College in Pocatello and worked in various drug stores. He joined the Upjohn Company in 1952 as a medical representative. His territory included Eastern Idaho and Western Wyoming. He retired with that company in 1984 after 35 years of service. Numerous Awards of Excellence bestowed by that firm only reflected his loyalty and conscientiousness.

He lived in Idaho Falls for 35 years and was a member of the Masons and St. John’s Episcopal Church in 1987. He and his wife Jean moved to Boise to be nearer their children

The courage and graciousness with which he accepted his ever limited world these last five years will forever stand as a testament to those whom he loved. These include his wife Jean Nibert Murray, of Boise; children: Michael N. Murray, of Chico, California; Elizabeth Murray, of Boise; Laurie Murray Adkins and Lorn Adkins, of Eagle; grandchildren: John Adkins and Sara Adkins of Eagle; Jodi Adkins Hiner and Scott Hiner, of Boise; Lisa Adkins Miller and David Miller, of Georgia; great grandchildren: Baylee Hiner and Austin Miller.
