John Leon “Jack” Williams, 61, died Wednesday, January 31.
He was born May 29, 1928, in Malad to William Jenkin and LaVeda Eliza Williams. He was reared and educated in Malad, graduating from Malad High School. He also attended Utah State University.
He married DeLoria Anita Price March 12, 1951, in Samaria. Their marriage was solemnized in the Logan. Utah LDS Temple December 10, 1965.
He was a U.S. Army veteran stationed with the occupation forces in Germany from 1951-52.
He moved to Tremonton in November 1961.
He was employed as a systems engineer at Morton Thiokol for 31 years.
He was a High Priest in the Tremonton Ninth Ward, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and served in the past as high priest secretary. He and his wife were dance instructors in Tremonton and Malad. He was a member of the Young Men’s Presidency and a Home Teacher.
He was a former member of the Oneida and Box Elder County Sheriff’s Possess, member of the American Legion, Ernest W. Jones Post in Malad, and a member of the Bear River Square Dance Club.
Surviving are his wife, of Tremonton, three daughters, LeAnn Eliason. Logan, Utah, Mrs. J. Robert “Bob” (Yvonne) Walton, and Delora Branz, both of Tremonton; six grandchildren; four brothers, Ralph G. Williams, Ogden, Utah, Thomas L. Williams. Cheyenne, Wyoming, Melvin R. Williams, Meridian and Beryl G. Williams, Malad; and one sister, Mrs. Vahl (Mary) Mills, Pocatello. He was preceded in death by two brothers and one grandson.
Funeral services were held Saturday at noon in the Tremonton Second and Fifth Ward Chapel, with Bishop Blaine R. Mauchley officiating. Burial was in the Samaria Cemetery with military honors accorded by the Ernest W. Jones American Legion Post of Malad.
