John “Jack” Harold Goodman

John H. “Jack” Goodman, 93 of Oxnard, California passed away suddenly on Saturday, November 18, 2017, while visiting friends and family in Malad, Idaho. Jack was born to Ralph and Tressa Mae Goodman on February 9, 1924, in Oakland, California, and moved to Ventura, California when he was 3 years old. Jack graduated from Ventura High School in 1942 and entered military service shortly thereafter. Jack was proud to have served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II.

Jack married Emma Lucille Williams in 1949 in the St. George L.D.S. Temple. Jack and Emma made their home in Oxnard, California, where Jack was a Construction Electrician. Jack was a proud member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 952, for over 65 years. He served many years as President of the local. Jack and Emma retired to Malad, Idaho where they lived for 27 years. During his retirement, Jack owned Jack’s Fishing Tackle Shop in Malad, where his motto was “I’ll believe your stories, if you believe mine.” Jack was a member of the VFW Post in Malad. Emma passed away December 1, 2003 in Malad. Jack spent the last four years living with family in Oxnard, California.

Jack was a lifelong active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Jack touched many lives as a result of his church service.

Jack is survived by four children, John Jr. (Terri) of Malad, Idaho, Karen (Woody) Woodley, of Lake of the Woods, California, Peggy (Paul) Meder, of Port Hueneme, California, David Goodman, of Oxnard, California, Sisters Dorothy Tonnies and Coreen Stiles, both of Ventura, California, 12 Grandchildren, 35 Great Grandchildren, 2 Great-Great Grandchildren, and countless friends. Jack was preceded in death by his Wife, Emma, Son James, Parents Ralph and Tressa, Brother Richard, Sisters Norma Cecil, Gladys Goodman, and Granddaughter Jeanie Marie Goodman.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 27 at 12 noon in the Horsley Funeral Home, 132 W. 300 N. in Malad. Friends may visit with the family on Monday from 10:30-11:45 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Malad City Cemetery.

There will also be a Memorial Service in Oxnard, California on Saturday December 2, 2017 at 11:00 AM, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 1150 Gary Drive
