John H. Gibbs

John H. Gibbs, 88, longtime Malad resident, died Wednesday, February 24, 1993 in Malad.

He was born October 12, 1904, in Swan Lake, Idaho, a son of Hyrum and Mary E, Hadley Gibbs. He grew up and was educated in Swan Lake and Downey. As a young man he worked on the family farm.

He married Irene Gilgen Mansfield November 5, 1956, in Elko, Nevada. He had worked for Union Pacific Railroad for several years, and also for a short time in Spencer, Idaho at the U.S. Government Sheep Experiment Station. He was employed by the Idaho State Highway Department from 1939 until his retirement in 1969.

He is survived by his wife, Irene Gibbs, of Malad; one son, Ted H. Gibbs of Oregon; three stepsons, Jim Mansfield, Roy, Utah and Brian Mansfield of American Falls; three grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and eight step-children. He was preceded in death by a stepson, two brothers and one sister.

Funeral services were held Saturday at 11 a.m., in the Malad LDS Second Ward Chapel, Bishop Rex Robbins officiating. Burial was in the Malad City Cemetery.
