John Clair Owens

John Clair Owens, 94, passed away Tuesday, October 21st, 2008 in Mesa, Arizona. He was born May 14, 1914, to Merrella Blanche Jones and John Harding Owens in Malad, Idaho. He attended school in Malad, Weber College, the University of Idaho and received his MSW at the University of Utah. He Married Dorothy Lewis on October 9, 1937, at Ogden, Utah. Their marriage was sealed for all time and eternity on July 29, 1939, in the Logan Temple.
Mr. Owens taught school in Franklin, Idaho, worked in Juvenile Law in Ogden, Utah during WWII, at sego Milk Company in Buhl, Idaho and worked for the State of Idaho in Youth rehabilitation and Mental Health at the State Hospital South in Pocatello, Boise, and Blackfoot, Idaho. He was active in the LDS church. He and his wife Dot enjoyed their family and traveling to many countries around the globe. After retiring in 1979 they became snowbirds and made their winter home in Scottsdale, Arizona. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy, daughter, Sue Noall, son Sheridan L., a great-grandchild, his parents, three sisters, Mary, Audrey, and Beth, two brothers, Jess and Harry. He is survived by daughter DD, son-in-law Arlie R. (Dick) White, Scottsdale, AZ and Island Park, Idaho, 10 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great-grandchildren, his sisters Edith Udy, Tremonton, Utah, and Ella Apgood, Salt Lake City, Utah. In the past two years, he has visited with all of the families, enjoying his great and great-great-grandchildren
Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 25, 2008, at 2:00 pm in the Horsley Funeral Home, 132 W 300 N, Malad, Idaho. Friends may visit with the family on Saturday from 12:30-1:45 pm prior to the service. Burial will follow in the St. John Cemetery.
