Jessie Martina Melhus Yearsley

MALAD – Jessie Martina Melhus Yearsley, 82, 71 Reynolds Street, died Wednesday, June 22, 1988, in the Oneida County Nursing Home.
She was born December 20, 1905 in Alexandra, La., to Martin J. and Lillie T. Miller Melhus. As a small child the family moved to Omaha, Nebraska, where she attended schools.
She received her beautician’s license. She was also a telephone operator and operated the Elliott Fisher machine in a major department store.
She was a member of the LDS Church, serving as a Sunday School teacher, secretary in that organization, and MIA secretary, and chairman of the lunch committee in the Relief Society.
She is survived by her husband of Malad; one son, Earl Yearsley, Yakima, Washington; 10 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and one brother, Lawrance M. Melhus, Omaha, Nebraska. She was preceded in death by one son, Lewis Eddy Yearsley; and one daughter, Belva Elaine Thomas.
Funeral services were at noon on Monday in the Malad LDS Fifth Ward Chapel with Bishop Frank Gunnell officiating. Burial was in the Malad Cemetery.
