Jensine (Cena) Marsh

Jensine (Cena) Marsh, passed away Saturday June 8, 2013 at her home in Preston Idaho, following a brief but valiant battle with cancer.

Jensine was born April 23 1925, in Tomah Wisconsin, the sixth of eight daughters of Henry and Edith Johannessen. The family returned to Idaho Falls Idaho, in 1929 where she was raised and educated, graduating with the class of 1943, and earning a Letter in Basketball. After graduating, she moved to Salt Lake City to work at one of the many military contractors supporting the war effort. During a night on the town, with an older sister, she met a “handsome Lieutenant” at a dance club in downtown Salt Lake City. As the story goes, he came to her rescue that night, and twelve months later they were married on October 30th 1945. That marriage to Walter E. Marsh lasted fifty six years, ending at his death on March 12, 2001.

She retired from Sperry Univac as a Senior Buyer in the Purchasing Department after 34 years. She and Walter worked diligently with the members of the 307th Bomb Group Memorial Association, compiling newsletters, rosters, and serving as secretary for many years. They were involved with the 398th Bomb Group, and traveled the world attending their many reunions.

Jensine was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day-Saints, serving in many capacities in the Relief Society. Her love of quilting brought many women of the Relief Society together, hand stitching quilts and blankets to be donated to needy children at Primary Childrens Hospital. Her love of dolls as a child, continued throughout her life, and with her sisters, she crafted, dressed and pampered hundreds of handmade porcelain dolls. She had an amazing ability to make and keep friends. From her earliest days as a child and wherever she traveled throughout the world, she added to that long list of friends. She was the driving force in organizing her 50th class reunion in 1993, and only missed the 70th reunion this year because of her failing health. Her keen mind and memory for facts and details provided hours of wonderful stories for her children, grandchildren and even great grandchildren. She is survived by her three children, Kristine Jones (Alan) Sandy Utah, Susan McQueen Preston Idaho, Kevin Marsh (Leslie) Riverton Utah. Two sisters, Joanna Koester (Dale) Downey Idaho, Jalna Searle Shelley Idaho. Eleven Grandchildren and Twenty-nine Great Grandchildren.

Preceded in death by her parents, her husband Walter, and five sisters.
