Jeffery Gerald Vandehei

Jeffery Gerald Vandehei, 31, 402 Bannock St., Malad, died Tuesday morning in Malad of apparent suicide.

He was born November 5, 1955 in Ogden, Utah, to William Gerald and Eileen Hansen Vandehei. He grew up and was educated in Ogden and Santa Rosa, California, where he graduated from Montgomery High School.

The family later moved to Brigham City, Utah, where he worked for Champion Homes. In 1978, he began employment with Morton-Thiokol where he worked as a tooling machinist. For the past six years, he lived in Malad.

He married Leisa Smith August 4, 1984 in Malad. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and the outdoors.

While in high school, he won several awards in baseball.

He is survived by his wife of Malad; one son, Justin Vandehei, Malad; three daughters, Janea, Brigham City, and Jeanette and Jaime, both of California; one brother, James Vandehei, Jackson Hole, Wyoming; two sisters, Jereen Vandehei, Sunset, Utah, and Janell Baker, Salt Lake City; his parents of Clearfield, Utah; and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Hansen, Brigham City, and Thelma Vandehei, Ogden.

Graveside services were held at the Malad City Cemetery Friday under the direction of the Benson Horsley Funeral Home in Malad.
