Jane (Jennie) Marchant Elcock Gehring

Jennie Gehring, (born Jane Marchant Elcock), age 87, died in the Clearfield Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Clearfield, Utah on April 25, 1993. Jennie loved Hood River, Oregon, where she lived for 50 years – from March 1939 to August 1989.

Jennie was born September 21, 1905, in Malad, Idaho, to Charles and Julia May Elcock. She was the second child in a family of six children, two girls and four boys.

She married Frank Gehring in Provo, Utah, on March 1, 1939. Their marriage was solemnized in the LDS Logan Temple in June 1951. Jennie and her husband moved to Hood River, Oregon, where they resided until Frank’s deather and Jennie’s illness. In 1941, Jennie became an employee of J.C. Penney Company where she remained for 27 years.

Jennie was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She served in the Church Primary Secretary and teacher, Relief Society President and Stake Primary Secretary.
She loved being with little children.

Jennie was preceded in death by her husband Frank, four brothers; Eli, John(jack), Lynn and Seth. She is survived by her sister, Zilla Swenson of Malad, Idaho, four sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law; Ila(Mrs. Lynn)Elcock of Malad, Idaho, Georgia(Mrs. Jack)Elcock of Salt Lake City, Kay (Mrs. Seth) Elock of Sun City, Arizona, Mont Swenson of Malad, Idaho and Vernal Gehring McKee of Vernal, Utah.
