James Marius Burnett

OGDEN – On July 18, 2004, after 96 years of living a life full of integrity and honor, our loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle and friend returned to his Father in Heaven.

James was born on April 12, 1908 in Plymouth, Utah, the third son of Joseph William Burnett and Edith Maude Sylvester. He grew up in Plymouth, Utah and Holbrook, Idaho with six brothers and one sister, who are all deceased.

He served an LD mission in the Southern States during 1930-32. He married Norma Eliason in the Salt lake Temple on October 25, 1934. They have had 70 years of a very good life. Together they raised four children, Dixie (Kent) Jones, Pleasant View; Becky, deceased (Frank) May, Farmington, Utah; Elaine (Clarence) Jones, Huntington Beach, CA; and Greg (Christy) Burnett, Cedar Hills, UT. The family was raised in Brigham City and North Ogden, Utah.

James loved gardening and planted a beautiful and productive garden every spring while they lived in North Ogden, sharing many fruits and vegetables. He was immaculate about everything he did. His yard was always well trimmed and very tidy. He was a finish carpenter and in 1985 James and Norma moved to St. George, Utah where they spent the next 18 years in the warm winters and enjoying new friends. They returned to the Ogden area one year ago to be around family and we are thankful they did.

As husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle and friend, Jim was a good example to everyone he met. He was taught hard work and responsibility and he taught those same qualities to his family. His sense of humor and extreme kindness has left indelible impression on all of our hearts. He exemplified kindness and courtesy to our mother.

James is survived by his wife and children. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Becky May, and a grandson Tyson Wayne Jones.

Funeral services will be held July 22, 2004 at Myers Mortuary Chapel in Ogden. Interment, Malad Cemetery, Malad, ID.
