Jacqueline Irene Spangler Salvesen, 79, of Downey, passed away on May 23, 2013 of natural causes. Jackie was born in Waynesboro, Pennsylvania on August 30, 1933. She met the love of her life, Clayne Salvesen, at church while he was stationed at Fort Richie, Maryland. They were married on July 20 1954 in the Logan LDS Temple. She was always active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, where she worked with the Young Women for many years. She served in many other callings including two missions together with her husband and was actively engaged in Genealogy. She attended B.Y.U. and years later worked at the Downey Elementary and Marsh Valley Middle School as a Librarian. She loved working with the kids and often saw former students who were always glad to see her. She also loved to travel. Jackie and Clayne’s 50th anniversary cruise to Alaska with all of their kids and spouses and a month visiting her daughter in Australia were amoung the highlights. Her family lovingly remembers her awesome cooking, incredible sewing projects and ever listening ear. She was preceded in death by her parents; Albert and Irene Spangler and her sister; Linda Richmond. She is survived by her husband; Clayne Salvesen; brother: Gary Spangler (Ruth Ann), children; Jay Dee Salvesen (Tammy), Scott Salvesen (Kris), Kelly Salvesen (Robyn), Lisa Reese (Kirk), Michele McQuivey (Shayne) 16 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. The family thanks her many friends, including the wonderful medical staff at Portneuf Hospital for their love and special care for Jackie. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday May 29, at 12 noon in the Downey LDS 1st Ward Chapel, Bishop Rex Nielsen, officiating. Friends are invited to visit with the Salvesen family on Tuesday evening at the church from 6-8 pm and on Wednesday prior to service from 10:30-11:45 am. Burial will follow in the Downey City Cemetery.
