Jack Dean Allred

PRESTON – Jack Dean Allred, 83, passed away on Aug. 9, 2010 in Preston, Idaho at the Franklin County Medical Center. He was born on Jan. 21, 1927 in Cub River, Idaho to Guy Molen and Della Oliverson Allred. Jack graduated from Preston High School and then served in the U.S. Army destroying explosives and ammunition at the close of WW11.

He married Thelma Drury on Dec. 18, 1946 in the Logan LDS Temple. They were the parents of three sons, Brad J., Jeffrey Guy, and Stanley James.

Jack worked for Utah Power and Light. At the time of his retirement he was the manager in the Malad, Idaho office. Jack was involved in the Scouting program most of his life. He earned his Eagle Scout award and served as Scoutmaster for many years. He also served in the Cub Scout program. Jack was awarded the District Award for Merit and the Silver Beaver Award.

Jack and Thelma served many years as dance directors. They helped with dance festivals on the local and regional level. They participated many years in the dance festivals held in Salt Lake City. Jack enjoyed his family. He enjoyed water sports and camping and just being in the outdoors.

He is survived by two sons, Brad J. (Pamela) Allred of Salt Lake City; and Jeffrey Guy (Mary Ellen) of Preston, Idaho. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Thelma, his son Stanley, and one grandchild.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Aug. 14, 2010 at 11 a.m. in the Preston 10th Ward LDS Chapel, 155 N. 200 W. with Bishop Mike Andrus conducting. A viewing will be held on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Webb Funeral Home, 1005 S. 800 E. in Preston; and Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 at the church.
