Iva Lou Atkinson Jensen

Downey, Idaho…Iva Lou Atkinson Jensen, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 8, 2015. Iva Lou was born on February 28, 1932 in Malad City, Idaho, a daughter of Lester W. and Anna Isabell Stowe Atkinson. She was raised in Samaria and graduated from Malad High School, class of 1950. She married Leon Jensen July 21, 1950 in Malad, Idaho. They made their home in Downey, where they farmed and ranched. They shared over 53 years together. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She served in many positions, her favorite being a primary teacher. She had a passion for reading. She was a talented seamstress. She spent many years as a 4-H leader sharing her love of sewing with others and judging at the South Bannock County Fair. She was a wonderful cook. She worked as a dietician at both the Downey Hospital and Oneida Hospital for over 30 years. She was a proud member of the Utah Pioneers and Red Hat Club. She was a very giving and kind person to everyone she met and she will be missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her 3 children; Sharon (Neldon) Bailey of Heyburn, Idaho, Kent (Debbie) Jensen of Downey, Idaho and Annette (Dwayne) Sherrard of Pocatello, Idaho, 3 grandchildren; Allyson Bailey, Jaclynn Garza, and Michael (Sara) Scott, 4 great grandchildren; Kaitlyn Garza, Michael, Treyven and Kaden Scott, a brother; Farrell Atkinson of Malad, Idaho. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Leon and a brother Wayne Atkinson. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 13, 2015 at noon in the Downey LDS 1st Ward Chapel.
