Ila Allen Apgood

WALNUT CREEK, CALIFORNIA – Ila Allen passed away peacefully on February 2, 2004 at her home in the Rossmoor retirement community of Walnut Creek, California. She was 84. She is survived by her daughter, Sharon Peffer, Bountiful, Utah; son, Ronald Joe Allen and daughter-in-law, Judy, San Rafael, California; son, Gerald Earl Allen and daughter-in-law, Marlene, Danville, California; 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Joseph William Allen.

Ila was born in Malad, Idaho on March 12, 1919. She and her beloved husband lived in Ogden for nearly 40 years before moving to Southern California. They lived there for ten years during which time both retired from supermarket chains, Ila from Market Basket and her husband from Albertson’s. After the death of her husband in 1986, Ila moved to Rossmoor in Walnut Creek, California. She was a resident of Rossmoor for 17 years. Ila was a past member of the choir in Rossmoor and had served as a volunteer at the Kaiser Hospital in Walnut Creek. She was a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers and a member of the Lafayette Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

One of her greatest joys was serving as a volunteer worker in the Oakland Temple of the LDS Church. She was dearly loved and respected and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Graveside service will be held in the Malad City Cemetery, Idaho on February 9, 2004.
