Horace Everett “Ed” Crowell, Jr.

Horace Everett “Ed” Crowell, Jr., former Malad resident, passed away suddenly and peacefully on October 14, 2012 at Ogden Regional Medical Center from a brain hemorrhage.

He was born on January 1, 1932 in Stoneham, Massachusetts to Horace E. Crowell and Mabel Wahlen Crowell.

Ed joined the US Air Force in 1950 and served during the Korean Conflict. He was very proud to serve his country. He and Lois recently attended his 60th military reunion in San Antonio, TX.

He met his sweetheart, Lois Limburg, on a blind date while stationed at hill Air Force Base. They were married six months later on July 9, 1952. After Ed was honorably discharged, they settled in the Ogden area where they raised their family.

Ed and Lois recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in July.

He worked at Hill Air Force Base for 33 years, and retired in 1987 as a foreman. He received many awards for his outstanding work at the base.

Ed was a lifetime member of the VFW and American Legion.

At a young age, he learned the rules and etiquette of golf. He liked working as a caddy for the local golf course in Reading, MA.

Ed loved the outdoors; he enjoyed golfing, fishing, waterskiing, and hunting with his family and friends. He also learned to snow ski with his young sons. He spent many years camping and lodging at Island Park, ID.

For the past 25 years, Ed and Lois have spent their winters in Beaver Dam, AZ. He appreciated the warmth and the beauty of the desert, golfing with friends and exploring new sites.

Ed had a funny sense of humor and enjoyed playing little pranks on others. He loved his family and friends very much.

He is survived by his wife, Lois Crowell of West Haven; his children, Kip (LuAnn), Uintah Highlands; Scott (Ilene), South Weber; his grandchildren, Corey (Alisa) Crowell, Christine (Nate) Floto, Kendra (Ben) Rabe, Craig (Lyndsi) Crowell, Derek Crowell, Chad (Megan) Crowell and Kelli Ann Crowell and 14 great grandchildren. A brother, William Crowell, Rochester, NH and a sister, Mary Brakebill, Ukiah, CA.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father, his brothers: James, Gordy and Richard. His father and mother-in-law: Evert and Madge Limburg, and his brother-in-law, Val Linburg.

The family wishes to thank the emergency room staff at Ogden Regional Medical Center for their professional and compassionate care.

Services will be held at Leavitt’s Mortuary, Ogden, on October 18, 2012. Interment will follow at Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch.
