Herman Gene Larsen

(February 16, 1943 – January 16, 2016) 

Herman Gene Larsen, 72, passed away Saturday, January 16th, in his home, with his wife of 49 years, Tyra Lynn Larsen at his side. Gene was born February 16th, 1943 to Martha Nola and Herman Davis Larsen of McCammon, Idaho. Gene had four sister’s Belva (Brower/Cody), Doris (Calvin Whiting), Norma (Leon Whiting), and Merle (Tom Henderson). Gene was raised on a farm near McCammon all of his life, milking cows, harvesting hay and raising red angus/shorthorn beef cows, team roping, hunting and fishing occupied most of his time. He served an LDS mission in the Great Lakes Mission which he enjoyed very much. He was joined in marriage to Tyra Lynn (Hull) of Preston, ID in the Idaho Falls Temple. They both attended BYU and lived in Provo, UT until they graduated. Gene and Tyra both chose teaching as their vocation and enjoyed it thoroughly, Gene taught industrial arts, wood and leather craft’s at Irving Jr. High and Marsh Valley High and Middle Schools. Gene and Tyra had five children Gina (Marvin Dekay), Wade, Ross (Stephanie), Todd (Amanda) and Kent (Kami). Gene enjoyed spending time with his 10 grandchildren Bradyn and Brakyn Burgin, Jace, Bo, Cash, Rye, Vance, Macie, Jaynie and Kyler Larsen. Watching them play in various sports and school activities was a favorite for him. Gene was a very skilled wood and leather craftsman, making clocks and picture frames, tables, chaps, belts, wallets and chairs brought him a lot of enjoyment. Funeral service will be held on Friday, January 22 at 12 noon in the McCammon LDS Stake Center. Friends may visit with the family at the church on Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m and Friday morning from 10:30-11:45 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Norton Cemetery
