Services in Downey for Mrs. VanLeuven, 86

A long-time Downey resident, Mrs. Hazel Hadfield VanLeuven, 86, died Tuesday in a rest home, and funeral services were held Saturday in the Downey LDS Ward chapel with Bishop Willis Barfuss of the Downey First Ward officiating.

Mrs. VanLeuven was born March 29, 1896, at Riverside, Utah, a daughter of Joseph and Mary Jane Oliver Hadfield. She was married to Silas (Emil) VanLeuven in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They made their home in Downey, moved to Utah for 10 years, and then returned to Downey. Mr. VanLeuven died March 10, 1968.

Mrs. VanLeuven had been employed as a Licensed Practical Nurse at the Marsh Valley Hospital in Downey and at the Valley View Rest Home in Lava Hot Springs.

Active in the LDS Church, she had served in the Primary, had been secretary of the Sunday School, and captain of the Hunt Camp, Daughters of Utah Pioneers, for 10 years.

Survivors include two sons, LaVelle VanLeuven, Tacoma, Wash.; Wendell (Toby) VanLeuven, Pocatello; a daughter, Jean Georgeson, Downey; a brother, Ralph Hadfield, Connersville, Calif.; 23 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Manning Funeral Chapel of Pocatello was in charge of funeral arrangements.
