Hazel Elizabeth Farnsworth Allen

PENNSYLVANIA, – Hazel Elizabeth Farnsworth Allen, 87, Formerly of Perry, Utah, died Friday, July 16, 1999 in Bellefonte, Pennsylvania.

She was born on August 25, 1911 in Holbrook, Idaho, a daughter of Cyrus Walter and Eva Claire Betenson Farnsworth.

She was a graduate of Bear River high School, where she wrote the school song.

Hazel married David Vinson Allen on December 16, 1929 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple. He preceded her in death on December 16, 1975.

She had been a member for over 40 years of the Perry Latter-day Saints 1st Ward, Perry, Utah, and was active in the Relief Society and the Young Women’s Mutual Improvement Association.

Hazel and her husband owned and operated a fruit farm in Perry, Utah for many years; she also worked at Pioneer Nursing Home in Brigham City and at the ZCMI Department Store in Ogden, Utah.

Following her husband’s death, she also lived in St. George, Utah and Ft. Collins, Colorado.

Surviving are two daughters, Susan (Ron) Garner of St. George, Utah; Marilyn (Bob) Knoffsinger of State College, Pennsylvania; two sons, Robert Clair (Joan) Allen of Ogden, Utah; David Neil Allen of Ivins, Utah; one brother, Lowell (Doris) Farnsworth of Fruit Heights, Utah; and a sister-in-law, Ida Farnsworth of Salt Lake City, Utah; 11 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 21, 1999 at 11 a.m. at the Myers Mortuary, 205 South 100 East, Brigham city, Utah.

Friends may call on Tuesday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until services at the mortuary.

Interment will be in the Brigham City Cemetery.
