Harvey J. Harris

STONE – Harvey J. Harris, 91, died Thursday, August 5, (1993) in Logan, Utah.

He was born March 17, 1902, in Stone,(Idaho), a son of Charles Edwin and Christine Peterson Harris. He grew up and was educated in Stone and continued there a lifelong resident.

He married Amelia Mary Gunsmith on June 18, 1931, in the Logan LDS Temple. Mr. Harris had herded sheep, farmed and ranched his entire life.

An active member of the LDS Church, he served in many capacities, including Bishop, Bishop’s counselor, Ward Clerk, High Priest Group Leader and secretary, and teacher in the various organizations. He was active in the community and served as president, secretary and boards member of the Curlew Irrigation Company. He was a trustee on the Oneida School Board, serving during construction of the Stone School.

He is survived by his wife, Mary, of Stone; one son and his wife, H. Don and Rena Harris of Logan; two daughters and their husbands, Marilyn and Jess Howell and Renelle and Ron Skidmore, all of Stone; 12 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and one sister Ruby Scott of Lehi, Utah. He was preceded in death by four brothers. four sisters, and two grandsons.

Funeral arrangements were under direction of Benson-Horsley Funeral Home in Malad. Services were held Monday, August 9, (1993) at 1:00 p.m. in the Curlew LDS Ward Chapel in Snowville, Utah, with Bishop Michael Morgan officiating. Burial was in the Snowville Cemetery.
