H. Clarence Kent

H. Clarence Kent, beloved husband and father, passed away peacefully on April 11, 2014.
Clarence was born on January 8, 1922, in St. John, Oneida County, Idaho, to Flora Burnham and H. Osmond Kent. He attended Malad Schools graduating in 1940. He joined the Marine Corps in 1942 serving in the Pacific theater and China during WWII. Shortly after his discharge in 1946, he served a successful LDS mission to the Eastern States.
Clarence married Virginia Francis in the LDS Logan Temple on May 20, 1949. They settled in Malad where he farmed and was involved in several community organizations including the Boy Scouts of America. He served as Bishop for eight years as well as many other positions in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
He loved his children, grandchildren (19) and great-grandchildren (25) with all his heart. We loved him and will miss his kind heart, his sense of humor, and recitation of poems, stories and songs.
He is preceded in death by four siblings and infant son, James Clarence. Survived by his wife, Virginia, children Maralyn Kent, Julianne (Matthew) Smith, David (Vicky) Kent, Robert (Kathy) Kent, Laurene (Jeff) Semrad, and sister Ellen Cutler.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 16, 2014, at 1:00 pm at the Malad 4th Ward Chapel, 20 S. 100 W. Family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6-8 pm and prior to the service from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm at Horsley Funeral Home at 132 W. 300 N. Interment will be at Malad City Cemetery.
