Grant LaRoy Ekstrom

Grant LaRoy Ekstrom 85; passed away at home, after an extended illness Saturday August 1, 2015. Grant was born March 24, 1930 in Spring Canyon, Utah to Levi B. Ekstrom and Emma S. Henrickson. He was born the 6th of 11 children and grew up on a working ranch in Pleasant View-Malad area. Grant joined the military and served in the Army. He married the love of his life Edna C. Hill, June 21, 1952 and was later sealed for time and eternity in the Idaho Falls Temple April 15, 1960. Grant worked for 18 years at FMC and then taught Diesel Mechanics with Idaho State University, Vo-Tec for 23 years. Grant and Edna had a full life blessed with 6 children, serving in many church callings and enjoying family activities while fishing, hunting, camping, carpentry, auto mechanics and welding; but above all he loved his family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Grant served with his wife in the Idaho Falls Temple for many years. Grant is survived by his wife Edna, daughters Ann, Karen, and Michelle; sons Bill, Scott, and Kenny. He had 27 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren, brothers Albert and Jay and sisters Hazel and Dixie. Grant was preceded in death by his father Levi, mother Emma, brothers Levi, John and Donald; sisters Doris, Pearl, and Gloria. Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 7 at 11 a.m. in the Inkom LDS 1st Ward Chapel. Friends may visit with the family at the church on Thursday evening from 6-8p.m. and Friday from 9:30-10:45 a.m. Burial will follow in the St. John Cemetery at 3:30 p.m. Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting www.horsleyfuneralhome.com
