Glenys Ilean Barnes Anderson, a lifelong resident of Downey, Idaho, passed away Monday, February 17, 2014, at the age of 91, with her family by her side. Glenys was born May 19, 1922, to Warren Ogden and Lettie Ilean Henderson Barnes. She grew up in Cambridge and attended elementary school there before going to and graduating from Downey High School. After high school Glenys attended LDS Business College in Salt Lake City. Upon graduation from LDS Business College, she returned to Pocatello and worked for First Security Bank. She also worked at the Glen Molen Chevrolet dealership in Downey prior to becoming the secretary for the Downey Grange and eventually, spent many years working at Marsh Valley Equipment. On October 8, 1947, she married William (Bill) Evans Anderson of Malad, Idaho, and they made their home in Downey. Their marriage was solemnized in the Logan Temple on April 12, 1973. Glenys and Bill have two children, Sherman (Adele) Anderson and Shauna Stanworth. They also have five grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren whom they adore. They loved participating in and supporting all activities involving their children and grandchildren. Sewing and needlework were lifelong hobbies for Glenys. She could never pass a fabric store without stopping for a look. Those looks resulted in many beautiful quilts for her family members, as well as retiring Bishops in the Downey 2nd Ward. Her children and grandchildren have been the lucky recipients of afghans, pillowcases, dishtowels and quilts, all of which passed the blue ribbon and sweepstakes tests at the Bannock County Fair. She also spent 20 years as a 4-H leader teaching sewing. Glenys was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in many capacities, especially in Primary and Relief Society and as Sunday School Chorister.
