Glenna Rebecca Hurd Cobia, 88, passed away November 14, 2006 in Brigham City. Glenna was born in Snowville, Utah at the home of her grandparents, William and Mary Elizabeth Hurd on March 13, 1918, a daughter of Edmund and Maude Vanderhoof Hurd.

She was educated at Snowville Elementary and Bear River high School in Tremonton, Utah. Glenna married Carl L. Cobia in Brigham City on February 16, 1935. The marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple. She was married to her loving companion Carl for 50 years before he preceded her in death, August, 1985. They owned and operated a service station and cabins in Snowville for many years except during World War II, when they moved their family to Clearfield for two years where Carl worked at Hill Air Force Base as an airplane engine mechanic.

She served on the town council and as an election judge for many years. She worked as a cook preparing lunch for the Snowville Elementary School students. She was a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers.

An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served in the Relief Society, Primary and Sunday School as a secretary and teacher, Relief Society Homemaking Leader and Visiting Teacher, Stake Missionary and many other callings. She sang with the Singing Mothers and the choir. She was the Project Clerk with Bishop Jerry Rose during the construction of the new church for the Curlew Ward in Snowville.. She spent many hours on this project.

A wife, mother and homemaker, her interests included painting pictures, quilting, crocheting, embroidering, seamstress, flower and vegetable gardening, cooking, playing the harmonica and singing. Much pleasure came from making quilts, crocheting doilies and afghans, making the best pie and bread in the world, painting pictures, and playing the harmonica for her children, grandchildren and friends. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

Glenna is survived by four children, Carl E. (Judy) Cobia, Honeyville, Utah; Glen L. (Donna) Cobia, Logan, Utah; Karen (Larry) Evans, Brigham City, Utah; Pauling (Gale) Neal, Stone, Idaho; 13 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Melba Cooms Hawkes, Fielding, Utah; Gloriia Ando, San Francisco, CA. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; three brothers, Wallace, Bernie, Lyle and one sister, Zella Pike.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 18 at 12 noon at the Snowville Curlew Ward Chapel. Friends and family may call Saturday from 10 – 11:30 a.m. prior to the services.

Interment will be in the Snowville cemetery.
