Glenn W. Baker

DOWNEY – Glenn W. Baker, 74, of Downey, and husband of Valois Kendall Baker, passed away March 18, 2002 in the Bannock Regional Medical Center in Pocatello.

He was born October 9, 1927 in Oxford, ID, a son of Merle Robert and Alice Fisher Baker. He grew up and was educated in Oxford and Downey, and was a graduate of Downey High School, class of 1945. That same summer he entered the US Navy and was stationed in the Pacific. In 1948, he was honorably discharged and returned to Idaho where he began employment with the Union Pacific Railroad on the signal gang.

Glenn married Valois Kendall on January 18, 1952 in Oxford. They lived in Pocatello, Ogden and Salt Lake City, UT, and Downey, as his employment moved them to various locations.

Following over 40 years with the railroad, he retired. Through the years Glenn also owned and operated the family farm and ranch in Oxford.

He was an elder in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

He is survived by his wife, Valois, of Downey and seven children, Alice Sherman of Springfield, MA; Glenn K. (Debra) Baker of Richmond, UT; Michael J. (Tammy) Baker of Shelley, ID; Lynne Baker and fiance, Paul Lucero of Pocatello; Jeffrey D. Baker of Downey; Bryan V. Baker of Pocatello; and John W. Baker of Downey; eight grandchildren; one great granddaughter; one brother, Robert (Colleen) Baker of Downey.

He as preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Catherine, one step sister, Trillis, one granddaughter, Amanda Lynn Baker.

Funeral services will be held March 23, 2002 in the Downey LDS Ward Chapel. Burial will be in the Oxford Cemetery with military rites by the Downey American Legion Post No. 21.
