Gladys Swenson Clark

Gladys Swenson Clark, 88, of Malad, died Tuesday, Nov. 23, 1993, at her home in Malad.

She was born Dec 12, 1904, in Logan, Utah, a daughter of Oscar Julius and Isabell Montgomery Andrews Swenson. She grew up in Logan, Utah, and Arbon, Idaho, was a graduate of Malad High School, and later received secretarial training at the Stevens-Henegar College in Salt Lake City.

Mrs. Clark was later employed as the first secretary at Malad High School.

She married Donald Vaughan Jan 8, 1924, in Malad. Mr. Vaughan died in 1939. She later married Oliver Paul Clark June 1, 1950, in Malad. Mr. Clark died Aug 17, 1990.

She had farmed and ranched with her husband in the Devil Creek area north of Malad. She enjoyed crocheting and quilting, was active in community fundraising, including the March of Dimes, and was an active member of the LDS Church, where she worked with the YWMIA.

She is survived by one son and his wife, Donald S. and Marjorie Vaughan, of Cherry Creek, Idaho.; two daughters, Lois Williams of Salt Lake City, and Mrs. Paul(Carole) Semrad of Malad; nine grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Don (Wand) Goddard of Malad, Venice Davis of California, and Valoy Wickham of Washington.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Nov 27, at noon in the Benson-Horsley Funeral Home, 132 W 300 N., Malad. Friends may call at the funeral home tonight from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., and on Saturday before the service. Burial will be in the Malad City Cemetery.
