Glade Wilson Tippets

Glade Wilson Tippets, 58 years young, lifetime resident of Arimo and Soda Springs, Idaho, passed away on Sunday October 13, 2012 at the Portneuf Medical Center. He was born June 21, 1954 in Downey, Idaho, a son of Wilson Dustin and Merle Coffin Tippets. He was raised and educated in Arimo and was a graduate of Marsh Valley High School, class of 1973. Glade then attended Boise Vo-Tech in Welding and later to the Vo-Tech School in Rock Springs, Wyoming where he became a Diesel Mechanic. Glade established a very strong work ethic while farming with his father on the family farm in Arimo. Following the death of his parents, Glade purchased the farm. He continued his profession as a diesel mechanic and welder, with a variety of construction companies in Idaho and Wyoming. For the past 37 years he was employed with the Degerstrom Ventures Co. in Soda Springs and was a member of the Operating Engineers Local. He also served on the board of the Portneuf Irrigation Co. Glade built and owned several apartments and storage facilities and was very successful in these ventures. Being an adventurer, he loved to travel, antiques, camping, snow machining, 4-wheeling, horses, motorcycling, boating, scuba diving, paragliding, and foremost, helping friends and family with their projects and problems. He was trustworthy and reliable to the maximum degree. Glade’s ambitions were an inspiration to all that knew him. For the past several years, Glade has resided in Soda Springs, with his sweetheart, Emily, who was the love of his life and whom he adored. Emily survives him as well as a brother; Ned Coffin (Rita) Tippets of Pocatello; 2 sisters; LaRitta Shaffer of Chubbuck; Betty Fae (Kevin) Windley of Magna, Utah; 9 nieces and nephews, 13 great-nieces and nephews and 2 great-great nieces and all of them loved Glade He was preceded in death by his parents and a nephew. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 20, 2012, at 12 noon in the Arimo LDS Stake Chapel, Bishop Randal Morris, officiating. Friends may visit with Glade’s family on Friday evening from 6-8 pm at Horsley’s Marsh Valley Funeral Home 570 N. Meadowview Dr. in Arimo (254-3786), and on Saturday at the church prior to services from 10:30-11:30 am. Burial will follow in the Arimo Cemetery.
