Gerane Apgood

Gerane Apgood passed away on November 18, 2012 in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was born to Sarah Elizabeth Dudley and Frank Leslie Apgood on July 16, 1930 in Malad, Idaho. She lived on their farm in Daniels and in Malad until World War II took her father to San Francisco to work for the war effort. After the war ended, she returned to live in Ogden, Utah and graduated from Ogden High School. She lived in Ogden until 2011 when she moved to Salt Lake City.

Growing up with brothers, she learned to play sports at a young age. She was an early booster of the Weber State Wildcats Basketball team and an ardent Jazz fan. For over 35 years, she worked as office manager at the Ogden Women’s Clinic. She belonged to the Utah Medical Assistants Assn and enjoyed traveling to their conventions.

Although Gerane did not have a family of her own, she was surrounded by family and nieces and nephews who loved her. She especially enjoyed spending time with the younger Apgoods. She had the opportunity to travel throughout the United States and many parts of the world. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints holding many positions over the years and also sang in the Ogden 4th Ward choir.

Her parents, sister, 7 brothers and a niece and nephew preceded her in death. Eleven nieces and nephews, 28 grandnieces/grandnephews and 47 great-great nieces/nephews survive her.

Services to celebrate her life will be held Saturday, November 24, at noon, in Malad, Idaho, at Horsley Funeral Home, 132 W 300 N. Friends may visit with the family on Saturday at the funeral home from 10:30-11:45 am. Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting www.horsleyfuneralhome.com.
